Meet the Family Behind Batch Cookies!

Today I thought it would be fun to write a quick blog post to introduce my family to you! We are the Hughes family and are so glad you found our little cookie blog!

To start off, I’d love to introduce myself!

My name is Nicole and I’m the main force behind Batch Cookies. I create the recipes, take the photos, and create a majority of the blog posts.

Here are some more things about me:

  • I grew up in the Salt Lake City area and moved to the Phoenix area just over 6 years ago (my goodness, time is flying by!)
  • I LOVE the color yellow (so much I painted my front door yellow!)
  • I taught special education prior to becoming a mom and starting my photography business (and this blog!)
  • I’ve visited 17 countries and am just itching to travel again (darn you, Covid-19!)
  • I spent 18 months living in the Philippines and 6 months living in Mainland China
  • I live for the sunshine and love spending time outdoors
  • My nickname is “Coley” (although only my siblings and close friends from growing up are the only ones who call me by this!)
  • I won “Most Likely to Brighten Your Day” in highschool
  • I love all the divas: Celine, Aretha, Whitney, and on…and I just simply can’t pass on a great love ballad

Now we’ll move to Ryan! He is the best supporter, dreamer, and believer behind Batch Cookies! He works hard as my emotional support (haha) as well as brings a ton of business knowledge to our projects.

Here are some more things about Ryan (written by Nicole):

  • Outside of living in Tacoma, WA for 2 years Ryan has spent his whole life living in his hometown of Tempe, Arizona. He can’t imagine living anywhere else.
  • He’s a huge Jamiroquai fan (in fact, he loves all funk music) I’ve always admired his unique taste in music!
  • He currently works as an instructional designer for a local university as well as teaches an online Master’s level course
  • He’s lactose intolerant- but still tries my cookies at least once!
  • He’s amazing at putting things together (glad there’s one of us in our marriage) and is super handy
  • He is an amazing rapper. Yes…you read that correctly. Ryan has serious rapping skills! You’d be amazed.
  • He once won a city level art competition. He’s super creative and I’ll just let you know there’s a 80s era phone booth sitting in our backyard because of this competition…ha, so random!
  • He’s the best dad and husband (I really mean that!)

Finally, we have little Miss Ava who we love so much! She is full of sass, has a heart of gold, and makes us so happy.

Here are some things about Ava:

  • She was born on 12-12-18 at 18:12. No joke. 12 & 18 will be her lucky numbers! (That makes her 2 years old!)
  • She is obsessed with her boots and will request to wear them everyday
  • She loves to sing! Her favorites are “I am MoanAAAA” and “For the First Time in Forever” or “Let it Go” from Frozen
  • She has the cutest natural curls and I love them so much
  • She loves to speak in this deep, gravely voice and when she does she just cracks herself up

Anyway, I hope you enjoyed this post about our family! I sure feel lucky to have my little family, especially during these hard times. I am so grateful for all that they do and are!

Love,

Nicole
